The Montessori Method

Dr. Maria Montessori Philosophy

Dr. Montessori’s philosophy was based on the principle that all children naturally develop in stages, called planes of development. From birth to age 6, children are in the first plane, where they are sensorial explorers who absorb the world around them. Children in the second plane, ages 6 through 12, become conceptual explorers and abstract thinkers. They are eager to learn and experience the world and their role in it. Around the age of 12+, students transition to the third or adolescent plane, in which they are humanistic explorers eager to understand their place in society and the contribution they can make to society.

Prepared Enviroments

Montessori classrooms are known as “prepared environments” with scientifically designed materials. Because children develop individually, they work at their own pace. Classrooms operate on three-year cycles, allowing children of mixed ages to form close relationships and engage in collaborative learning. Each cycle provides the children with the consistency of the same teacher within the same setting. The role of the trained adult is to act as a link between the children and their environment.

Our Vision

To offer a strong and enriched academic program that provides children with skills that foster independence, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility. Developing a love for learning that will stay with the child their whole lives.
